LOVE IN A ROLL
This recipe came about after being inspired by the one and only Rachael Ray. I was an audience member on ``The Rachael Ray show`` a couple of years ago. She had a hot dog theme day and I was excited to remake something similar when I got home. Here is my take on it!
ingredients
- 6 jumbo hot dogs cut down the middle
- 1 large spanish onion sliced
- 1/4 cup dijon mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 container of prepared pastry dough
- 1/2 cup sharp white cheddar cheese grated
- 2 tablespoons black and white sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
preparation
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F or 180 degrees C.
In a skillet preheat 1 teaspoon of olive oil.
Sear the hot dogs cut side down until golden. Remove the hot dogs and in the same pan caramelize the onions, you do this by letting onions cook on a low temperature for about 15 to 20 minutes or until they are golden brown. Add Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook an additional 2 minutes. Set aside.Cut the pastry dough into 6 sections. Place the hot dogs cut side up, cover with onions and cheese. Roll the dough completely over the hot dog in a cigar shape.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place the rolls leaving 2 inches in between each. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with sesame seeds and garlic powder. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden.
