HERB & CHEESE SCONES
One of the first recipes I learned when working at Chef en Vous was this one here. I was given this scone recipe with cheese in it. When I ralized just how easy the recipe was to make I decided to experiment with it, here is a perfect savory scone in tribute to one of my very first food jobs!
ingredients
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tbsp of baking powder
- 1/2 cup of butter cut into cubes
- 1 cup of grated gruyere cheese
- 1 sprig of rosemary, thyme and parsley finely chopped
- 1 cup of milk
preparation
Preheat oven to 225 C / 425 F
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add the butter and, using your hands or a mixer, mix until the consistency reaches that of coarse crumbs. Add the cheese, and the herbs and combine. Add the milk and stir until the mixture is homogenous. Do not over mix. Spoon, roll or cut out the forms you would like to make with the dough and place on the baking sheet leaving about one inch in between each scone. Bake for about 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before serving
